“I have no idea when it’s going to come out. Not real soon though.”
Last week, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke revealed on Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio 1 show that he’s close to finishing an album with his band Atoms for Peace, which also features Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and producer Nigel Godrich. Now, Flea himself has spoken more about the project to Rolling Stone.
According to Flea, the band went into the studio after touring and jammed for three days: “Thom and Nigel [Godrich] have taken that stuff and done shit with it. I’ve heard little bits and pieces. I have no idea when it’s going to come out. Not real soon though.”
While Flea refused to describe what the album might sound like (“I kinda feel like it’s not really my place to talk about that stuff. The mystery should be the mystery.”), he did mention that he thinks Atoms for Peace will probably tour again at some point, offering this humorously disgusting quote in the process: “I imagine that will probably happen…I just have a warm place in my heart and my mind and my balls for the whole fucking concept.”
